Keokuk City Hall Renovation and Relocation

Previously occupied by Connections Bank, the new City Hall consists of the original historic structure and a modern two story addition.

Project Description

Previously occupied by Connections Bank, the new City Hall consists of the original historic structure and a modern two story addition. Along with the interior renovations, the building has received a new roof, a new fire sprinkler and alarm system, and has been thoroughly tuckpointed. The project reused much of the existing office layout while restoring the original historic lobby to serve as the new Council Chambers. The original plaster ceiling was largely intact and was revealed and restored after the removal of the drop ceiling. Removing the drop ceiling also revealed a balcony and second floor space that looks out into the chamber, this area was fully renovated to hold special events. Additionally, new accessible public restrooms and lobby have been added to welcome visitors to the new space.
